Time Farmers is a celebration of experimental and independent animation.

I started Time Farmers as a traveling program of short animated films made by independent contemporary animators from across North America and has since expanded to include a series of video portraits. I don’t know if I can call it a series just yet because only one has been produced so far, but I am very excited to make more of these mini-features. You can watch the first episode below. If you’d like to hear when the next episode is available, please follow @timefarmers on Instagram.

Time Farmers is a celebration of experimental & independent animation. This is the first episode of a series of video portraits of contemporary animators. Lori D. went to visit Stefan in their studio in Seattle, WA in the spring of 2018 when they were finishing their newest hand-drawn film "Boiler Room Mystics". Stefan talks to Lori D. about their process for combining hand-drawn animation in a digital sandwich and how they approached color design on this project. There is also a very special guest arachnid. Stefan Gruber is an American experimental animator and performance artist from Seattle, Washington. They create hand-drawn, digitally finished experimental animation shorts and are Animation Department founder and teacher at The Nova Animation Project and the founder of Seattle Experimental Animation Team (SEAT). Find out more about Stefan and their work here: https://www.patreon.com/Stefangruber http://stefangruber.com This video was shot and edited by Lori Damiano. Special thanks to Stefan Gruber, Vida Rose, and Zach Erickson.

Time Farmers - Traveling Animation Show

The first Time Farmers collection of films was organized to screen along-side my film ‘Lord I : The Records Keeper’.  I traveled with this program to different corners of the US and Canada in an effort to bring unconventional animated art to a wide array of communities that may not otherwise have access to this type of work. Time Farmers screened in theaters, galleries, backyards, and anywhere that would make a good site to host motion picture gazers. The Time Farmers program included a diverse array of narrative & non- narrative films produced through both hand-crafted and digital techniques. Below you will find more information on the films and filmmakers that are included in this program.
